Perth's local SaaS scene is genuinely small. There's no equivalent of Atlassian or TechnologyOne headquartered here. The realistic Perth SDR opportunity in 2026 is mostly remote roles with Sydney / Melbourne / Brisbane-headquartered companies that hire AU-wide.
The bright spot: Perth-based SDRs often work the resources, mining, and energy verticals. SaaS companies selling into BHP, Rio Tinto, Woodside, and the WA government often want a Perth-based rep on the ground. How to break in
Perth-specific tactics from a current SDR.
Treat remote-AU SDR roles as your primary target. Most Perth-based SDRs work fully or mostly remote; openly stating you're Perth-based but happy with the time-zone shift positions you correctly from the first email.
If you have a mining, oil-and-gas, or resources background — even adjacent — lean on it hard. SaaS companies selling into WA's resource sector specifically want reps who already know the buyer language.
Be patient. The Perth SDR market is genuinely thinner than the eastern capitals. You may need to apply to 2-3x as many roles before landing your first interview. Don't take that personally — it's the market, not your resume.
